Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bishnupur is
located at Utlou at a distance of 12 km from Imphal
with “The Utlou Joint Farming-cum-Pisciculture Co-operative
Society Ltd.” as the host institute which was formed at
Utlou Village and got registered in 1967-68 under Register
No. 22 of 1967-68.
Since its inception, KVK, Bishnupur has been actively
associated with research, training of farmer, rural youth &
extension personnel; On-Farm Testing (OFT) and Front Line
Demonstration (FLD) in Agronomy, Horticulture, Fisheries,
Animal Science, Home Science, Plant Protection and
Agricultural extension.

Bishupur district has a vast area under lakes and low-lying areas. Loktak lake (286sq.km), the biggest freshwater lake in NE region lies in between Bishnupur and Imphal West districts. More than 50% of the states fish production (18,600tonnes) is produced from Bishnupur district.
